CAPABILITIES / AREAS OF EXPERTISE :
FORELL has demonstrated its technical innovation by winning three SBIR Phase I contracts and two SBIR Phase II contract in its first two years of existence. In addition to these research contracts, FORELL performed on an engineering support contract for L3 Ocean Systems, providing system engineering and recommendations on sensor technology, architectures, and equipment to provide an effective harbor detection and alerting system in support of Homeland Defense. FORELL has worked on the DD(X) program to provide engineering services in the areas of Human Systems Integration and Architectures. This work provides technical support interfacing directly with NCSS, Bath Iron Works, Lockheed Martin, Raytheon Company, Boeing, and other DD(X) Team Members.
While FORELL as a startup company brings few years of company experience, FORELL brings decades of engineering and management experience through the personal experience of its employees and its consultants. Most of these individuals each bring more than 20 years of experience in engineering and management in the DoD and Aerospace domain. In FORELL’s short life of four years, FORELL has demonstrated its ability to create a working environment conducive to attracting highly qualified and motivated people.
PAST PERFORMANCE, PRIOR 3 YEARS (Examples):
3.1 IR&D – Explosive detection, communications subsystems, on Test Team – LPD17 , acoustic signal processing (Mr. W. Eaton). FORELL won several MDA SBIRS in the area of target discrimination and Kill Vehicle Field of View management.
3.2 Systems engineering – FORELL is supporting the DD(X) Human Systems Integration and Architecture teams and is supporting the definition of processes leading to definition of automation needs. Provided study on sensors for the Coast Guard for L3 to define a system and architecture for Homeland Defense. Extensive test and communication background (Mr. R. Swaney)
3.3 Prototyping - Under a MDA sponsored SBIR, FORELL is prototyping a new software estimation and risk assessment capability that is based on decision architectures.
3.4 Modeling – Expert in simulation and modeling of complex systems using agent based technology and reinforcement learning capabilities (Dr. J. Clymer).
3.6 Software Engineering – Co-founder, Ms. E. Gianoulis, came from Hughes/Raytheon SEI 5 level software development and process organization. She has extensive process and metric background.
3.8 Human Factors Engineering –FORELL is the lead for the DD(X) HSI Style Guide. FORELL is supporting the automation and task-oriented approach activities to satisfy DD(X) staffing goals.
